Who We Are
Our Story
Bario Neal began as the collaborative work of designers Anna Bario and Page Neal. Anna and Page began working together with the shared idea that our most precious things come with a story. Drawn to the imaginative possibilities of jewelry, yet disillusioned by industry standards that turned a blind eye to metal and gemstone mining’s environmental and human tolls, the designers began to envision how to make jewelry of lasting value and ethical origins.
In 2008, Anna and Page launched Bario Neal as a design-forward, women-owned and feminist company. Today, Bario Neal is an industry leader in ethical sourcing and progressive manufacturing, known for its design sensibility and high-quality, handcrafted work. A belief in the right to love and marry whoever and however you choose is one of the core principles of Bario Neal’s jewelry. Whether it is a custom diamond ring or a pendant from the collections, each piece is designed in-house and handcrafted with reclaimed precious metals, Fairmined gold, and ethically sourced stones.
Bio
Anna Bario
Anna Bario founded Bario Neal, alongside co-founder Page Neal, in 2008, with an interest in bringing sustainability into the discourse surrounding creativity, fine jewelry and craft. Anna works not only in design, but as a specialist in responsible gold and gemstone sourcing. Her work in sustainable initiatives and social impacts defines the framework for Bario Neal’s ethical jewelry roadmap.
Anna holds an AA from Simon Rock’s College of Bard in Environmental Studies and a BA in Psychology with a concentration in the social psychology of environmental crisis from Oberlin College. Bario serves on the board of Ethical Metalsmiths and Marlboro Foundation.
Page Neal
With a background in sculpture and product design, and a commitment to making waves in an industry that had long turned a blind eye to environmental and human tolls, Page Neal launched Bario Neal alongside partner Anna Bario in 2008. With designs that evoke the beauty of the natural world through thoughtfully selected gemstones and precious metals, Page’s sculpture visions come to life in the designs at Bario-Neal. At Bario Neal, she focuses on design, branding, and art direction.
Page holds a BA from Oberlin College in Visual Art , and a Masters from the University of Pennsylvania in Integrated Product Design.
